Attila is a very common name in Hungary where it is given as a first name. “Atta” in Gothic means 'father' and the suffix means 'little', giving the meaning to the name. There are a number of versions of the name with the Hungarian version giving emphasis to the first syllable, while the American version gives emphasis to the second syllable.
